This past Sunday was the culminating event of our program Phase 1: the annual Garlic Planting Day! Everyone got their hands in the dirt and had fun learning how to plant garlic, which will be used by next year’s Phase 2 CSA. Special huge thank you to @farmtoschoolnj for giving a presentation on their incredible program that connects local farmers with schools to provide fresh produce!!

And just like that, another CSA season is over! CONGRATULATIONS to our 2024 phase 2 cohort for a wonderful season. It’s always such a delight to see each new class of beginner farmers learn and grow and gain confidence in their skills.

The culminating event of Phase 2, Friends & Family Day, was a huge success. Phase 1 students were able to take a tour and learn about our Phase 2 operation, and friends, family, and CSA customers were invited to join us for a fun-filled day of learning, games, and appreciating where our food comes from. Special thanks to Brendon Pearsall from @njfarmlandpreservation for giving a talk on all the amazing work happening at SADC’s Next Gen Farmer Program!
